ABSTRACT: Following three conferences and three subsequently created video-books, which delved into new technology, gamification, mediation and audiovisual translation, among other topics, we considered the natural progression for our seminar series was to explore the social and unifying nature of—and which is intrinsic to—foreign language and translation teaching. With this in mind, we decided upon dedicating this latest edition to accessibility in the media and how to practise accessibility in foreign language and translation classrooms. Throughout the chapters of this book, accessibility has been contemplated from two perspectives, both equally pivotal in accessibility: in terms of its transferability, insofar as sensitivity to accessibility and skills and knowledge to produce accessible content is important in the world we inhabit; and as a teaching methodology, incorporating it into student’ learning through exercises and the creation of accessible material.
Upon detailed analysis of the content presented in the chapters of this e-book, I would like to conclude by saying that the production of accessible content in foreign-language and translation education is a social and motivational element that encourages student involvement, having a positive impact on both learning and social development.
